Cold Press Soap Making for Beginners

Learn how to make your own soap from start to finish. This class focuses on the beginner soap maker and covers all the basics of soap making.  The soap making process taught is Cold Process, Thermal Heat/Room Temperature technique.  You will make a batch of soap to take home with you!  
*A $25 materials fee is due to the instructor at the beginning of class.

Objectives of class: To gain an understanding of the following:
Understanding lye safety
Using the soap calculator
The properties of fats and oils and the why's of use
What is super fatting
Essential Oils and Fragrant Oils how they differ
Handout will contain the following information
Safety instructions
Equipment to purchase
Soap making instruction
References books and websites

What you need to bring: Participant need to bring the following items and participating is prohibited without the necessary equipment.
Goggles (eye protection)
Apron
Silicone Spatula (long and short)
Mask (odor respiratory)
Heavy Rubber Gloves (i.e. Playtex Long Line)
2 old heavy towels to keep your soap warm
Soap Making attire
Closed toe shoes
Long sleeve shirt (high collar)
Long pants (these can be old, something that you do not mind getting soiled)
Tie back for long hair

Additional Items to bring:
Flat bottom strong bag to bring products homes
Bag to take your dirty equipment home
Bring lunch (we will take a short break)

What you will take home:
Class handout
Two logs of soap approximately 30oz prior to curing
Curing instructions
Starter soap recipes
Confidence
A big smile
