Continuing our Living History Series, we proudly present this afternoon program, which takes a fresh, contemporary look at the women’s suffrage movement. The Bucks County Chapter of the League of Women Voters will be hosting this event and will be showing the film “Iron Jawed Angels” (PG-13), a look at the young women who shaped history.

General Information
Although this event is free, pre-registration is required. Members of the League will be on hand to register voters for the November election. Don’t forget, the deadline to register to vote is Monday, October 5th!

On website: “Iron Jawed Angels” is a 2004 film starring Hilary Swank, Frances O’Connor and Angelica Huston. The movie follows young activists who put their lives at risk to help American women win the right to vote. It focuses on leader Alice Paul (Hilary Swank) who begins an aggressive campaign for the government to endorse the 19th Amendment. These activists kept the suffrage issue in the forefront and their campaign was a factor in leading President Wilson to change his position and work actively for passage of the 19th Amendment. Swank and Huston received awards for their performances.
